Credits and licences

Every fact in Factle comes from English Wikipedia's "Did you know…?" section and the articles it links to, written by Wikipedia's volunteer contributors. Each fact links to its source articles in the game, and their edit histories list the authors.

Wikipedia text is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0. Factle's facts were reworded from DYK hooks and filtered by automated rules, and the fakes are deliberately false versions of real facts. The derived fact dataset (data/facts.jsonl and site/data/days/ in the repository) is also CC BY-SA 4.0.

Linked articles were classified using Wikidata (CC0). Facts about living people are excluded, so no fake makes a false claim about a living person.

Fakes are checked automatically with the cross-encoder/nli-MiniLM2-L6-H768 model (Apache-2.0) and a Wikipedia search. If a fake turns out to be true, use the 🚩 button after the round.
