Checks to try
- Camera method, phone upright: aim at something whose compass bearing you know (a street on a map, the sun's azimuth). Heading should match within about 5-10°.
- Tilt: phone upright and level → 0°; aim the camera at your feet → about 90° below.
- Top-edge method, phone flat: heading should match a compass app. Rotate the screen to landscape: the heading should follow the new top edge.
- iPhone: hold the phone flat once after enabling (it learns north), then raise it upright; the heading should stay steady and correct.
